Federal agents searched the Washington, D.C.-area home of Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Somalia-born U.S. representative who arrived in the United States as a refugee in 1995 and became a U.S. citizen in 2000, on Monday under a judicially authorized warrant as part of an ongoing federal investigation.
According to a source familiar with the investigation to Fox News Digital, the inquiry concerns alleged criminal fraud involving Omar’s immigration paperwork that was finalized by her late father when she was a child, at about 17 years old.
“Today in the Washington, D.C., area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice. This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation,” Department of Justice spokesperson said and confirmed the search.
Fox News reported that the operation took place before dawn and that it observed multiple agents wearing Homeland Security Investigations jackets outside the home. The outlet also obtained videos of the scene.
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents reportedly searched Democratic U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home early Monday as part of a criminal investigation. Omar told me in mid-September she was not informed that she was the subject of a federal investigation and that she doesn’t worry about the allegations against her

Authorities have not publicly detailed the evidence they archived or found, nor disclosed further information about the search.
The operation follows public statements in September from senior administration officials about an investigation involving Omar. Border Czar Tom Homan confirmed that a criminal investigation was underway, while Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin discussed scrutiny of her family’s migration history and possible illegal activity connected to her arrival in the United States.
Omar, youngest of seven children, born in Mogadishu, Somalia, on Oct. 4, 1982. fled Somalia with her father and six other siblings during the civil war in 1991 and spent about four years in a Kenyan refugee camp before arriving in the United States in March 1995 through the refugee resettlement program.
The family initially settled in Arlington, Virginia, before moving to Minneapolis in 1997. Omar officially became a U.S. citizen in 2000 while still a minor.
🔥🚨 BREAKING — HSI agents are still going in and out of Somali Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home in Washington, D.C., amid the ongoing federal criminal investigation. The raid took place pre-dawn this morning under a judicially authorized search warrant that the Department of Justice has already confirmed was executed as part of an ongoing federal investigation. Border Czar Tom Homan later confirmed that a warrant was executed and then deferred the specific details of the case to Attorney General Todd Blanche. Hours after the initial entry, agents continued to move in and out of the house, indicating the search remained active. The investigation had been underway for some time before agents executed the warrant this morning, and their continued presence on scene shows the work is not finished. Nobody is above the law.

Public biographical accounts describe her arrival as a refugee resettlement, and no public evidence has established that she entered the country irregularly. Her individual immigration files are not publicly available, and Relish Wire News could not independently verify this either.
So far, the investigation has also drawn attention to longstanding allegations surrounding Omar’s 2009 civil marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, a British national.
Critics for some time now have alleged that Elmi is her biological brother and that the marriage was intended to secure immigration benefits. That allegation is what Omar has denied as many times asked, calling them “absurd and offensive.”
As of today, available evidence has not established that Elmi is Omar’s biological brother nor that the marriage involved immigration fraud, even though the DOJ has been fighting for it’s lives to establish those facts.
In 2019, The Star Tribune’s investigation said it could neither conclusively confirm nor rebut the claim, while fact-checkers and other news organizations have reported finding no credible evidence confirming the alleged sibling relationship.
The marriage allegations have previously attracted official and congressional attention, which in 2016, then-U.S. Attorney Andy Luger said his office was not investigating the marriage claims, in other words House Republicans later sought immigration records through oversight subpoenas, but those efforts encountered procedural obstacles.
criminal charges, indictments, or court findings has not established that Omar committed immigration or marriage fraud. The current investigation’s precise scope, the evidence under review, and whether it will lead to formal action is what only time will tell.
